Lutèce introduces organic mushrooms
Lutèce has expanded its range with organic mushrooms. This addition to the range enables Europe’s major supplier of preserved mushrooms to meet the consumer demand for healthy and sustainably produced products.
Mushrooms are rich in fibre, contain healthy proteins and are a good meat substitute. Mushrooms are cultivated with complete respect for people and the planet: after all, mushrooms are grown on compost made of straw and animal manure. All waste and side products are completely reused. However, with the organic mushrooms Lutèce has gone a step further by using raw materials with organic certification throughout the whole production process. Lutèce uses, for instance, organic straw and manure to produce compost and the ammonia that is released during this process is filtered from the air. The spent mushroom compost left behind after harvesting is reused to grow organic mushrooms, thereby completing the circle.
Energy saving
Lutèce organic mushrooms are an excellent example of how to anticipate the ‘cradle to cradle’ trend: the waste of one product forms the raw material for another product in an ongoing process. During this process energy is, of course, always needed. That is why Lutèce has also focused on process innovations. This has recently resulted in energy savings of as much as 20% in organic mushroom and mushroom production.
Pure and natural for a competitive price
Anyone who wants to enjoy a socially acceptable and tasty meal can add these new organic mushrooms to their menu with a clear conscience. These mushrooms are a true pure and natural product with a rich flavour, packed with essential vitamins and minerals. They are also affordable, because by including organic mushrooms as a permanent feature of its range Lutèce can offer the mushrooms for a competitive price.
